Export and Import Internet Favorites

In this section I will be showing you how to export your favorites and import them into a browser. For this example I will be using firefox, but the steps should be very similar for each browser you use. If you use google chrome, then all you need to do is log in to your google account. And it will be synced between all your google chrome browsers who are logged into the same google account.

For the first step launch firefox, a window should open and it should look like this.

Click the bookmark button at the top left corner and a window should pop down. It should look like this.

I have cleared my favorites from the image but that is ok. You can still see the folders I have created. Click the show all bookmarks button and a window should pop up. It should look like this.

Click the Import and Backup button and a window should pop down. It should look like this.

Click the back up button and a window should appear, it should look like this.

Click save and it will create a file on your desktop with that name. It should look like this.

Now that you have the file saved, it will contain all of your favorites. To restore it simply launch firefox again and click bookmarks again.

Then click show all bookmarks again.

Then click Import and Backup again.

But this time click restore. A window should pop out and it should look like this.

Click on Choose file and a window should appear, it should look like this.

Select the file you created earlier and click open. The window should disappear and a warning box should appear. It should look like this.

Click ok, and the box should disappear. Now just double check your favorites to make sure they have been imported correctly. If so it should look exactly like they were in your other firefox browser.

That’s it! You’re done! Congratulations! Now have a bit of peace of mind that your bookmarks are backed up. You can store this on a seperate device, like a usb flash drive/stick or an external hard drive. That way if your computer does die on you. You have a backup to restore to your new computer or if you choose to reformat your pc.
